Our PVB laminated safety glass is universally recommended for use in "hazardous" areas, where damage and subsequent injury may occur. It conforms to the highest international safety standards:

Fire Retardation

Colours - In addition to our VISTASAFE™ clear laminated glass, VISTALAM™ laminated glass offers a variety of tints and reflective products.

Safety

PVB laminated safety glass has been known to withstand fire penetration for longer periods than ordinary glass, due to the properties of the PVB interlayer, thereby delaying the influx of oxygen necessary for combustion.

Security

Should be utilised where some form of protection against bomb blasts is required.

Fade Control

Laminated PVB glass utilising one interlayer (i.e. Normal strenght) will provide better security than float glass, but where specific security needs arise, such as resistance against forced entry, high impact (HI) quality laminated glass is recommended as it conforms to SANS 1263 Part2 (Anti Bandit)

High Penetration Resistance(HPR)

Chart

Normal strength laminated safety glass provides better sound control than monolithic glass of the same thickness, as the visco elastic properties of the polyvinyl interlayer provide a dampening effect on the transmission of sound waves.

Solar Control

A PVB laminated safety glass with either a tinted interlayer or reflective coating will, depending on the density, substantially reduce incoming solar radiation, thus reducing air conditioning loads and subsequent running costs.

Specialised Laminated Glasses

Vistalam™ PVB Laminated Safety Glass

PVB laminated glass can eliminate up to 99% of ultraviolet in the range of 300 - 400nm.

Sound

VISTALAM™ laminated glass is manufactured from two or more sheets of float glass bonded together with one or more PVB interlayers (Polyvinyl Butyral). Glass thicknesses are nominal and dependant on the substance tolerances of the glass manufacturers
